View Full Version : Rail Voltage on Speaker Output

Have just completed building 4 Amp5's and all OK except for one channel of one amp. It has -27v on the speaker output.
I've checked all components against the working boards and everything checks out.
Checked all the inputs and feeds to the chip and all is OK.
Thought I may have damaged the Tripath Chip so swapped for a known working one and still had the same problem so I know it's not the chip.
The only thing I can think of is if the PCB is multilayer and there's a fault I can't see, if it's only double sided then I havn't got a clue.

Any Ideas

From my experience, if one of the pins on the Tripath chip isn't soldered properly (dry joint, etc) you will get rail voltage on one or both outputs. You might want to go over those again with a magnifier.

Seems that must have been the problem, Removing the chip and reinstalled and all is working OK now, although the PCB is a little worse for wear after the removal...
