Or possibly dead. My AMP6 has been playing for about six weeks with no problems. I had a Laptop plugged into the same mains circuit with the AMP6. While the AMP6 was playing I inadvertently kicked the laptop powerblock. This caused a pop sound from my speakers and no sound from the AMP6. The AMP6 power fuse had blown.

I replaced the fuse and it blew, again, upon power on.

I disconnected the speakers and tried another fuse, which also blew upon power on.

I disconnected inputs, outputs, and the input capacitors. Replaced the fuse and it immediately blew upon power on.

I have since connected the speakers and source up to another T-amp with no problem.

The fuse is in the positive leg of of the transformer secondary before the power switch to the AMP6 circuitry.

I need help as to where to start troubleshooting. Any ideas would be appreciated.
TIA.

What value was the fuse? Have you tried powering it up without the sleep jumper/switch enabled? What's the voltage from your transformer?

Mine is dead too, so I may be of limited help.

What resistance do you measure on the power terminal?

When it is near zero ohms than something is shorted.

The AMP6 has an on board regulator to operate on a wider (and higher) range of voltages. You can cut some leads on the PCB to determine where the short circuit is. Start from the chip down to the regulator circuit. When you measure a short on the chip, replace the chip. When you have a few hundred or more ohms on the chip check the regulator circuit and scrape a bit of the enamel on the PCB to solder a piece of wire to restore the PCB-lead.

After you've tried this report back.....

------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------
