View Full Version : Full dual-mono or eliminate supply pumping?
Hi,
If I have two Amp11's, I can either:
A) use two separate power supplies for full dual mono,
B) or connect them to the same supply in inverted phase, to lessen power supply pumping
Which is better? The PSRR is pretty good, so how much benefit is there from fully separating the power supplies? How bad is pumping?
Hi, I guess the pumping is very minimal due to the oversized close up caps... Probably not much difference, inverted phase, dual rectifiers and extra bulk caps on one supply sound squeeky to me...
But impossible when you wanna have nice monoblocks, which providing money is not limited is still the nicest way to go if you ask me....
------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------
Thanks for the reply
- is squeeky good or bad? :)
I think that when operating with 36V, full monoblocks w/ two separate 100+W 36V SMPS may be pretty cost-effective compared to a single, big supply. The higher-wattage 36V SMPS's tend to be pretty rare - and expensive, it seems like.
Squeeky clean= good...
But indeed large ones are often less used and more expensive due to their exclusiveness...
Two supplies would than be my choice...
