Has anyone seen one of those cheap anywhere? this one is around 100€.

You could simplify the design.
A piece of board the size you feel is adequate for your needs.
Glue some foam to the board, 40mm like the one linked to would probably be good.
Glue a couple of velcro strips of one kind to the other side of the board, maybe covering the whole back.
Make a couple of elastic cloth strips with the other kind of velcro on both ends.
It might work for people without access to all kinds of metal bars and struts.

seems like a good idea, I could make myself one as I hand assemble modules now for a shop
