Hello,

I understand the idea is to use the enclosure as a dissipator for the bottom mounted components.

My enclosure is quite plain (it was originally a PA amp I've purchased dead), made of sheet iron.

Would there be an advantage in using a piece of aluminum between the bottom components and the enclosure so heath would spread better?

Amp will be used at home.

Thanks,

I would certainly do that, not only for the output fets, but the pre-regulator transistors get pretty hot after a while....

I know a heatsink for less than €10 that has the exact same size as the AMP15/AMP7 board. I posted the links to this a while ago somewhere. Will dig it up....

Here's THE perfect heatsink for AMP15/AMP7:

If you feel like more cooling there's also one that is thicker.... and barely more costly...

I've seen your post re the dissipator.

Problem is the internal height height of the enclosure - only 7.5cm.

If I could assemble the PCB vertical, I would be able to use the enclosure dissipator.

I will see what's simpler - a thick piece of alum (not so easy in very small quantities) or another enclosure (of a dead PA amp).
