View Full Version : Fuse value
I was finally able to get my amp4 to work and while doing the regular voltage tests, I didn't use any fuse. The amp played ok, except for the toasty 5v regulator and the amp IC. I placed the amp in its case together with a 220v (primary) - 20v 6ampere secondary. Can anyone suggest the proper value of the fuse to be used given those specs? I tried a 500mah fuse, connected in the primary side of the transformer, but it blew up after I switched on the mute. Thanks for taking time on my inquiry :)
One thing for sure, if you have a 6A transformer, your 500 mA fuse is a little short :D. I don't know the right value, but with experts on the forum, you will get your answer shortly [8D] !

20v x 6amp = 120va transformer. I would suggest 2amp slow-blow on the promary side. I am using a 225va with my dual amp11 setup and 2amp slow-blow is fine. Slow blow is important as this gets you past the initial surge at power on.
