Thanks to a very high efficiency, the 41Hz switch mode amplifiers are very suitable for portable players for a festival, where a player should run for days on battery power at high volume.
Another reason some of these amps work well is that they are designed for single rail power supply and have bridged outputs. This basically means you can power them from a single battery and get a high output power with a moderate supply voltage. The most commonly used boombox amps are AMP6-BASIC and AMP9-BASIC.
Here are some tips and links about festival Boom-boxes from the Roskilde festival forum:

- AMP6 Basic: Saturnus may show up with his famous Boominator.
There is a 60 page thread on the DIYAudio web site about the Boominator project which is powered by two AMP6-BASIC. The Boominator - another stab at the ultimate party machine
Or right here under Customer Projects too, of course! HERE
The AMP9x is popular too: Our member Kain may have his box ready too. Can he out-class the Boominator?
Here is a AMP6-Basic based Luxury boombox model:

This will do too:

All fun !
PS
We would appreciate some feedback.
