Missing component AMP9 (order: #10010)
Filmcapacitor missing (0.47/0.56uF MKT?) from LC output filter section.

Dear Mr. Jan,

It seems im missing a component from a AMP9 kit I've received a few months ago.
According to the BOM it's the: "Cap 50V Film 0.47uF Polyester RM5" one (bruin droplike component).
I know there has been some time since i've made the order, but im still hoping help is available.
It would be really great if the missing component could be send over, but it seems kinda expensive to me for just a small cap ;).

So instead I tried sourcing the cap from my local area, but it proves to be quite difficult to find a capacitor that will fit.
The MKT/MKP capacitors are rated at much higher voltages, making them physically to large for a fit :(.
The only type that would fit is a Wima FKS2 (polyethylene): www.wima.com/EN/WIMA_FKS_2.pdf
But I don't know if that one is a suitable replacement.

Best Regards,

Chris

Edit:
Found another candidate (MKS2) that is locally available and might be better than the FKS2: www.wima.com/EN/WIMA_MKS_2.pdf
Is there anyone who can tell me if they will be suitable replacements in the LC output filter from the AMP9?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Hi,

The cap should actually be 0.47uF, see the BOM, but the 0.47uF where out of supply from the manufacturer for a long time.
However, 0.56uF work fine as well and where supplied for a while.

Ah thanks for the fast reply!

The kit was indeed supplied with 0.56uF cap's but I have only received 7 of them instead of 8.
I triple checked all bag's, even the post envelop but the missing cap was nowhere to be found.

Now im not really fuzzed about it, since i know how easy it is to forget a component (specially when one is tired).
My local electronics vendor for example never managed to get my shopping list right the 1st time, so I always have to check my list before leaving the shop ^^ (can't really blame him since I know how stressfull his job is).

Anyway the real question is now, will the Wima MKS2 capacitor be a suitable replacement? They seem too small to me for placement in an LC output filter (high current demand).

Greetings,

Chris
