    Default TA3020 mounted with socket

    Hi,

Did anyone tried to mount TA3020 using socket ?

I though standard sizes for DIL were 10.16mm (0.4), 15.24mm (0.6) and 19.05mm (0.75) but sockets I tried to put doesn't fit on the board.
looking at TA3020 datasheet, size is indeed 0.66, not 0.6

    1 - Why [?]
    2 - where could I find such socket ?

    Cheers,

    Christian

    Hi Christian,
The board wasn't designed for a socket, due to keep loopareas at absolute minimum.

You can use two halve sockets.... than the distance doesn't matter...
Maybe you can clip a socket in half...

Sure, I could but reading Benn's answer, I'm now wondering whenever adding socket is a real good idea... ?

Anyway, I'll start soon, with or without socket, this is not that important.
The point that remains strange to me is that spacing should be the same with or without socket.

    More feedback soon. Cheers,
    Christian

A quote from Benn from another thread:

[br]If the chip is broken and your'e about to desolder it, the easiest way to do that is to cut off all the comp.pins and desolder them one by one.
That way it's easier to salvage the plating in the comp.holes on the PCB.
    Good luck /Benn
The man is full of good ideas!

------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------

It makes sense. Thank you !

Forgot my initial question, I'm going to solder directly on the PCB.
