Default What members built what amps and how many?

I thought it was a nice idea to post what amps we've/'re built/building.

I have completed about twentyfive AMP32 kits, four AMP9 kits, two Truepaths, three AMP4 and two AMP6 kits....

The AMP32 I build four simultaneously within about two hours...(only the soldering...)

AMP9 takes me about three hours (winding toroids and all soldering)

AMP6 is easy toroid winding, took me 45 min. to wind the four, 1,5 hours to complete the whole kit.

The rest of the kits still take me much longer through lack of experience...

This said AMP32 is the absolute winner in easy building if you ask me. It takes a good working area and precision, but once these demands are answered to it's very easy to build. I think SMD takes much less time (and mess) than through hole....

    I built

    - five AMP4 kits : 4 are working, one is somewhere on my bench waiting for reanimation
    - one AMP32PS
    - three AMP2 kits. One runs like a wonder and I am keeping religiously the bodies of the 2 blown ones.

As for building difficulties, in my opinion :
    - AMP32 was a bliss
    - AMP4 is sometimes a stuborn bitch and doesn't want to start, although last AMP4 was completed within an eyeblink and started first time.
    - AMP2 is quite scary and can be lethal when you play with a serious power supply (60V and 1000VA in my case) and, as stated by Jan, definitely needs some skill.

    Hello,

    'm just a little player :
    1 x AMP6
    3 x AMP4.

As stated by Mr T, amp4 may be "surprising" sometimes

Whoa, what a response within such short time! Thank you guys!

I must add that I've been very close to builds of some of my friends, like the AMP10 basic. It was built right in front of me within arms length while I was building a TA3020 based amp....It was not an immediate success, some resistor values needed to be adapted a littlebit. But after that it worked like a charm...Soundex built it being the very first in the world to build the 10 basic.[^] We were at Jan's place in Stockholm this summer....[8D]

I have built 5 Truepath amps. The one I just finished took 2 hours plus winding the inductors. Of these, 1.5 are working and 3 are comatose.

I agree with V-bro that soldering surface mount components (Truepath has only caps and resistors) is much easier and faster than through hole. With SMT the faster you can do it the easier it gets so you get an exponential decrease in overall time taken.

Edit 29 Oct 07: Three of my five Truepaths are working.
