    Default AMP-10 PCB Layout

    Hi Guys,

I had a question about how this board is layed out. I noticed that the way the chip is aligned, especially with the 680uF caps, I cannot get a screwdriver in to do up retaining screws (to a heatsink or whatever) I know this chip doesn't require big heatsinks, but it would be nice to bolt this to *something*.

Has anyone come up with a workaround solution? Perhaps a re-lay of the PCB would solve it - the 680uF components only need to move perhaps 3-5mm to the side and you could get in to do up any screws on the side of the tripath chip.

I don't know about any other kits in the 41hz range, but I find this feature very nice to have. Makes installation of heatsinks / screwing down a breeze.

Most 41Hz kits are like this.
It's a requirement of this design to have a filter cap close to the chip.

You can drill and tap the heatsink for a 6x32 stud.
The use a nut on the stud to secure the chip.
I've also used an allen head bolt with very short ground down allen key.
You can also drill straight through the heatsink and stick a small machine screw through the heatsink and use a nut on the chip side. Don't over tighten or you can crack the chip.

***If it was easy, everyone would be doing it***
