Default new issues - but slowly progressing

    Hi everyone,

So far I have made slow progress on this project but I'm fine considering I started with Zero knowledge and skills. Just to give you a bit of my background, I'm a finance guy (still employed if you're wondering). I started not knowing anything about electronics and amps but I'm learning. Don't be alarmed by that fact, I too carefull (risk averse) to get myself injured.

Here are my issues for the moment:

    Amp1B
    1. I'm quite sure the LED is not in the package sent by 41 Hz. Do I buy it or do I wait for them to send me one?
    2. In Amp1B Package 3, there are items C1, C2,C68, C75 (Cap 50V 1000pF) and C30, C31, C76 (Cap 50V 100pF). I don't see any illustration or instructions on where to put these items.
    3. I'm having a hard time distinguishing between D2, D3 and D4. Please advise on how to indentify them.

    PS1
    1. Can you confirm if my understanding is correct on the following connections:
    312, 322 = Amp and Speakers
    311, 321 = Amp
    2. Do I connect the transformer into 31, 32?
    3. What do I connect on 330, 331, 332, 333?
    4. And what are the wire sizes needed for the connections?

Thanks! I am now quite sure that without the help of this Forum, this will be a 1-year project for me - if not, more. :-)

The LED is normally included with the kits I'm used to. Some even have several LEDs included...

The rest of your questions are impossible to answer for me right now, I'll have to do some digging into the files first....

Ok, what power supply board is that? Can you shoot some pics?

Also the diodes, pics could help (even yourself, on a picture you can zoom in ) On the diodes there should be tiny printed text like "1N-scroll-41-scroll-48"...

    What's that about 312, 322,311,321?!

I've updated the PCB bottom component layout with the actual values.
The light green is for resistors.
The brown/tan/orange is for different value capacitors.
Note, there are 2 .1uF (104) Caps which are 100V (colored in pink), while the rest are only 50V

To post pics press "reply to topic" at the bottom here and then you get this screen:

    Then press this button:

then place a link to the picture in between, so you need to first post pics somewhere else. For instance in the photo gallery here on the site:

Sadly I've never figured out how to post pictures in the Gallery on this site.
It seems like you have to setup another account and password?
One for the forums, one for support and one for the photo gallery?

Yes, I had some trouble like that in the start too. It's not a very big deal because there are better photo upload services around...

You can always send Jan an email to get it sorted out. jan-at-41hz.com

hey thanks for your replies guys!

scratchy that back view guide is so useful. i'm actually studying pics of your amp.

v-bro, will try posting pics of the diodes in question based on your method soon (that is, when i go home this afternoon after office and after this nasty snow storm).

scratchy, what's that braid of pink/black/white wire you attached to the J1 hole? is that some sort of an on/off switch? how does that work?
