Default Finished my 8 channel HTPC amp

After 1½ years I finally finished my surround amp.

I have discussed and reported in Swedish on another forum, http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic.php?t=566.

    There are pictures on these pages: http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic....r=asc&start=90, http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic....=asc&start=180, http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic....=asc&start=195, http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic....=asc&start=210, http://www.warp7.se/forum/viewtopic....=asc&start=225

Now I just have to get 7.1 surround working on my OpenSUSE 11.1 :-). And of course a 41Hz amp for the subwoofer.

Very nice build, lots of attention to detail.
    I especially like the case.
You must own a machine shop?

It looks like you had all the aluminum black anodized as well.
How does it perform and sound?
What speakers are you driving with this?

No I don´t. My friends do. We meet once a week an do hobby stuff. I didn't do the anodizing myself, it costed 40 euros.

Preliminary testing with old 8 ohm loudspeakers didn't reveal any big mistakes. When playing one channel at a time, other channels not connected on input, one channel sounded real bad, like bad earth connection. Then I blew the main fuses. I havn't tried that side yet since the failure. But before blowing the fuse I could barely be in the same room when input protection set in. Input protection is very sensitive to base controls. I believe that if I implement a subwoofer filter, this amp will be able to play as loud as one can wish in an apartement.

I will be using homebuild speakers with Jordan JX92S. At the moment I only got a pair of them.

    [8D]Very nice amplifier More10!![8D]

Also very nice sockets there in the back!

I hardly dare to say, but I only could comment on the switches. They could have been nicer looking perhaps...

In the centre of the tranny there's epoxy and a teenut, did you do that yourself or was that standard?

------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------

the epoxy potting is probably standard. I'm not sure with the tee nut. [:P]

I don't think amp9 will get hot or even warm with that very nice case. I'm too impatient to wait 1.5 years to make an amp hehehe

Well one of my friends at the garage also object to the switches. But I like the retro look. No modifications to the tranny. It is an Elfa 56-139-22, http://www.elfaelektroonika.ee/cgi-b...132-52&lng=eng
