Jack making noise, is RCA the solution?

Hi guys

I have a jack plug mounted in my amp enclosure, but when connecting the jack cable from the amp6b to the plug, a lot of noise (hummm) is generated. I've read some old posts on this, but better safe than sorry, so I'm wondering if this can be solved by replacing the jack plug with RCAs and get a RCA-minijack cable between the board and the plug (cut and soldered)? I'm guessing yes, but I'd like to be sure before I change my setup once again :-)

Do you use shielded wires, or at least twisted strands ... if not then that'll probably solve it.

I'm just using a standard stereo jack cable... you know, the cheap kind. Does that goes as shielded?
Anyway, I'm using a 6,35mm jack plug in the enclosure with pretty big connectors - would this also matter if I got the right jack cable (shielded wires/twistet strands)? It's kind of an improvised solution since I couldn't find a mini jack plug long enought to stick through the alu enclosure. This would also be solved by using RCAs (and coax cables?) I guess.
