so i just put a resistor across the chip like in the pic?
what value resistor, and how do i wire the ins and outs?

can anyone point me to bridging instructions?
I came upon this by chance last night - it's on the wiki page, just below middle!

The Amp1 wiki page is probably one of the most fleshed out, v. nice
(edit: I hope this adds anything new, that is)
First you should power and test the amp in stereo mode before you bridge it.
Here are the Bridging instructions:

I believe the AI also has instructions for bridging, but as per one of your other posts, who reads the instructions []

WOW that's just what i was looking for. I really do make an effort to find the info without asking. but your "assembly instructions" link is a lot more detailed than the ones that are on the download page. i couldn't find any of that info. are these the unofficial instructions? why aren't they on the download page. that would have helped assembly.
any way. thanks for your help. ill post the progress.
Yeah ... some pretty significant consolidation work needs to be done.
It'd be very cool if you posted any good external info you found on the forums etc. on the Wiki page ...
That was the 29th post on this forum 18th Mar. 2005.
I wouldn't expect anyone to find this post on their own.
It's just that I have built 2 AMP1's and had the same question.
I did a lot of research on this forum while waiting for the AMPs to arrive.
I suggest anyone building one of these amps first check the related chip datasheet before lifting their soldering iron.
It's always better to understand how something works before you build it.
I found this in the TA2022 datasheet (available at many sites by googling "TA2022 datasheet":
There is a schematic below this paragraph showing how this is done.quote:Br i d g i n g t h e T A2022
The TA2022 can be bridged by returning the signal from OAOUT1 to the input resistor at INV2.
OUT1 will then be a gained version of OAOUT1, and OUT2 will be a gained and inverted version of
OAOUT1 (see Figure 3). When the two amplifier outputs are bridged, the apparent load impedance
seen by each output is halved, so the minimum recommended impedance for bridged operation is 8
ohms. Due to the internal current limit setting, the maximum supply voltage recommended for
bridged operation is +/-30V. Bridged operation into loads below 8ohms is possible, but, as mentioned
above, the amplifier efficiency will be reduced and the amplifier may prematurely current limit. The
TA2022 is capable of 150W into 8 ohms bridged at 0.1% THD+N.

Followed by this paragraph:
How's that for spoon feeding info.quote:The switching outputs, OUT1 and OUT2, are not synchronized, so a common inductor may not be
used with a bridged TA2022. For this same reason, individual zobel networks must be applied to
each output to load each output and lower the Q of each common mode differential LC filter.
...I guess this one needs to be archived too.

Also make sure you have and have read these documents:
* The schematics
* BOM (Bill Of Materals)
* The Tripath chip datasheet
They are all available under the Downloads tab in your account on the 41Hz Audio site.
