Default PROBLEM - No clic on the relay when turning the power on.

Ok, now everything is soldered and in place on my amp10 basic.

Time for turning the power on and testing.

Here are the tests that have already passed :

-> without jumper J10 : we got a nice 5.02V on the 5V part of the PCB
-> with everything in place except the chip (I used soldering sockets, see attached picture), everinthing seems OK, I hear the clic when I switch on, voltage on big capacitor is around 30V.

-> When we added the chip on the sockets, after discharging the capacitor, and turn the current on again, we have no clic.
    5v is OK; still have + & - 30 v on the capacitor.
BUT we have no voltage on the relay coil (0 v).

putting or removing a jumper on J2 (mute fonction) doesn't change anything.

Can somebody give me a hint please ???

in the meantime I go on with digging the trouble shooting section, but I havent found anything yet.

Thanks for the help by advance

    Back again...

In the troubleshooting section it's written :
" Note that if the Tripath chip detects errors, it can internally disable the UNMUTE state, even of the MUTE input is set to UNMUTE "

So we assume there must be an error somewhere that leads the chip to force the "mute state" and explains the fact that relay coil has been working without the chip and is not working anymore (no voltage on the corresponding pins).
Is there a measure that can confirm that hypothesis ?

Anyway, looking for that error, we go on with testing, re-make a few solder that seemed a little bit dirty. We were also testing the connexion from every pin of the chip to the corresponding component according to the Amp10 basic schematic.

While doing that we discover that one of the capacitor (C43) that is both in the BOM and the AMP10_BASIC_BOTTOM document doesn't exist in the schematic document. Is it normal ??

Has anybody achieved recently an AMP10-Basic and can please help me with some tips or direction to investigate ?

    I don't have a Facebook account, so I can't view the photos.
Can you upload them here - http://imgur.com/

    Hi Scratchy,

Sorry for the delay, I was off town the last few days, building and running an open air bar for a big party in the country...
My sound system was due to be ready for the occasion, but... we used the good old one and some current from a neighbour. fine. Now I'm back and willing to solve the issue, I still have 15 days before the tour to begin.

Anyway thanks for giving a look at my problem.
I've uploaded the picture as requested there : http://imgur.com/f1C8W.jpg

It only shows the slot I've used to mount the chip on the PCB, without soldering it directly (i'm not a knight of the solder iron yet :-)
Do you think it might be the cause of my pb ?

In the meantime I will go on my "debugging" and keep you informed if I find some clue.

go on with testing, following the trouble shooting process.

It seems that HMUTE output is high whereas it should not.
Can someone give me a clue about which part of the circuit might be in cause ??

    Thanks.

    OK :

I've ordered a new chip at jan's and it will come soon.
Now I'm afraid i will fry it again if I go on testing it blindly without any advice from you.
As said somewhere in the forum, I will get some small current / slow fuse to limit the current while testing. Try to get also some isopropyl 99% to clean the pcb (I only cleaned it with tooth brush before).

I uploaded some pics, if you can have a look and tell me if anything seems suspicious. The chip is not on the slot anymore, as it is fried.

I beg for your help ! Many thanks.
