Why not use car speakers for a boombox?

There have been many novice diy-ers wasting their money on car speakers (including myself in the early days!!) to be used in a speaker enclosure. Here's another example and I wish it is read by as many noobs as possible to prevent them from making the same mistake:

Well, glad I read this. I have started to a boombox and will power with an amp6. I want to use a full range driver. Each speaker enclosure is about .3 cu feet. Unfortunately I already cut out the woofer holes because I had planned on using 6.5 inch car speakers, until readhing this. So now here is where I'm at.

What's a highly recommened 6.5 inch full range driver that will pair up with the amp6 nicely for my boombox? As for my car speakers, no worries, I will just install them in my truck.

V-bro your definitly a veteran on this site, how could I go about powering speakers from 240v wall socket instead of a battery. (like a boombox setup i suppose, but more for home made project of a pair of computer speakers). ????

All you need is a power supply unit. You need one that suits the amp you are using.
