Default Accurate AI for the Amp11 (36V)?

I purchased an Amp 11 (36V version) a long, long time ago.

I am finally getting around to boxing it up with an Amp3 as a three channel system.

I am looking at the instructions that I downloaded when I got the board and at the instructions in the download area and I can't believe that after a few years on the market that there still is not a correct set of instructions for this board.

The "current" instructions in the download area actually pictures two different boards. There are two photos that show J4 as a twelve pin connector and one at the bottom that shows it as a ten pin connector. Both sets of assembly instructions list ten connections at J4.

The schematics that I downloaded when I got the board aren't too much help in that they show some of the connections on J4 (LED connections specifically) as actually connecting to J3.

I could tone out each of the pads on J4 and find out where they actually connect but I'd rather have an accurate AI and schematic.

Am I not looking at the correct area for this info?

BTW there is absolutely no documentation available in the shopping account area when I log in.

    Hi,

The most up to date AI is on the forum site documentation area.

If you find absolutely nothing on the shopping area downloads, then you probably logged on with another account than the one you used when you orderd the kit.

So I need the board revision of the one you have and I can send the up to date schematic for it.

I will take a look at the AI and the connector table. I have a couple of AMP11 on the table so I could take new photos today.

Just checked. From rev 1.05 there are two more pins on J4:
    J4 pin 11 = AGND
J4 pin 12 = PWRDN for the power stage. Connect this pin to AGND to mute the power stage. It has a pullup resistor R40 to 5V so the power stage will unmute if J4 pin 12 is left open.

I also updated the "J3" in the schematics. On earlier revisions, the input / output connector was split on two. Now joined into one, J4 so J3 does not excist any more.

Same username, but like I said I purchased the kit quite some time ago and the sites have been rebuilt along the way, which is I think where I lost all the documents.
I should have documents for Amp2, Amp3, Amp4, Amp5, Amp6 and Amp11 and like I said there is absolutely nothing. The account is still pepolman.

BTW I did figure out all the pins by toning with my meter. The point is that the documentation needs to be updated. I know that at one time there was a wiki for this but I can't seem to find any reference to this in the recent past. Is it still out there?

    Hi,

I updated and emailed you the AMP11 docs a few hours ago. The wiki was closed and content moved to the Documentation area on this site, under Assembly Instructions. http://www.41hz.com/forums/content.php?48-AI-41hz

The site structure is shown here:

If you log on to the shop, go to My Account, Downloads tab, nothing there at all?

Actually I see a whole bunch of stuff there now. I've checked the updates you've done on the AI and it looks better.

I still think you should do something about the photos in the AI. Using the different versions of the board in the same AI does cause some lack of clarity.

What would you use pins 11 and 12 on J4 for anyways?

Muting the output stage, this makes for an even lower mute current.... When you don't mind the 20mA extra you leave these open.

(this may be useful for battery operated purposes)

Photos, today, if the amps I have in the workshop are the latest rev. Otherwise, maybe someone out there has some photos of an un-modded plain vanilla AMP11?

As pointed out, the power stage mute reduces stand-by power and can also be used to ensure quiet start-up. Any startup noise would originate from the modulator and power supply, not from the power stage. So if you keep the power stage off at start-up, it should be quiet when you turn it on.

Thanks Jan, I'll hopefully finish up my amps here shortly and let you know how it turns out. All I need to do is finish building/rebuilding some speakers now for the center channel and rears to put this into use.

I may have to swap out the Amp3 for the rears, maybe a couple more Amp11s but I'll have to give it some tests first.
