I´m ordered a Amp6, have a 50VA 15V torriod transformer.
Can I connect a Velleman MK 163/164 IR-ELECTRONIC VOLUME CONTROL
(TC9413AP) on the board?
Is it a good idea, as is the quality[?]
regards egon

I bought kit's the MK 162 and 163. Since my Torroid instead of 2x 15
2x 24 V has must the test for the Amp6 still wait.
But at my normal amplifier everything functions in the best way.
Hello egon
I think your 2x24 VAC transformer may be too large for the amp6, the rectified voltage is higher than the unloaded voltage of the transformer and using the formula : voltage = AC voltage x 1.414 = 34 Volts DC (less the drop across the rectifier itself). The voltage regulator has a maximum limit of 30V DC and the supply capacitor that Jan provides with the kit is rated at 25V. I used a 20 VAC transformer which put 28V across the regulator and I replaced the capacitor with a 75V rated supply capacitor. I don't think you can safely go much higher than 20VAC. dB
I tested the Amp now finished and with the IR-ELECTRONIC
VOLUME CONTROL.
It functioned perfectly and the sound is also super.
I think its a very good low cost Kit.
(The transformer is correct, the battery of the voltmeter
was indicated empty and therefore it wrong values.)
