    Here:

------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------

The most used values a bit larger:

------X-max. can be several meters on any driver, too bad it can be done only once...------

I have a sound card with this specifications :
    # High sensitive input stage (< 0.2Vpp input level)
    # Output voltage coaxial 0.8 V, XLR 3.5 V
I'm using it with jack-RCA and plan to use it with my amp5 when it will be mounted. I have soldered the "standard use" resistors. Have I done a mistake or the specifications aren't useless.

    Somebody measured other sources?
I have been playing around with my new Velleman PCS100 testing my HTPC motherboard soundcard. It is a Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H. It has got Realtek 889A sound with 106 dB SNR. Only Gigabyte sells motherboards with this chip. I got 1,5 VRMS, at 1 kHz which means 4,2 V ptp. I guess I don't have to do anything to adjust my amp9.

I did some quick research about it.
Just to confirm Jan's post, here are my findings (from product manuals, brochures etc.):

    Denon DVD-5910 DVD SACD
    2VRMS
    ---------
    Denon DCD-SA1 SACD
    2V (balanced & unbalanced)
    ---------

    ---------
    Marantz SA7001, output unbalanced
    SACD: 2.3VRMS
    CD: 2.3VRMS
    ---------

    ---------
    Musical Fidelity A5 CD
Audio output at digital 0dB level: 2.15VRMS at 1kHz nominal
    ---------
    MF A5.5 CD
Output digital 0dB level: 2.18 VRMS at 1kHz nominal
    ---------
    MF KW DM25 DAC
Audio output at digital 0dB level 2.2VRMS at 1kHz nominal
    ---------

    ---------
    Linn Majik CD
    2.0 VRMS
    ---------

    ---------
    Teac Esoteric (SA-10 & SZ-1)
Maximum output level (RCA + XLR): 2.2VRMS (@ 1.1kHz, full scale)
    ---------
    Teac Esoteric (X-03 & UX-3)
Maximum output level (RCA + XLR): 2.5Vrms (@ 1.1kHz, full scale)
    ---------
    Teac Esoteric X-01
Maximum output level (@ 1.1kHz, full scale)
    RCA: 2.5Vrms
    XLR: 2.3Vrms
    ---------

    ---------
    Audio Research (CD3 MkII & CD7)
    OUTPUTS, ANALOG: (Stereo)

    Accuphase (DP-500 & DP-700)
    2.5V (rca & xlr)
    ---------

    ---------
    Bryston BCD-1
    2.3V Unbalanced - 4.6V Balanced
    ---------

    2.0Vrms @ 1kHz
    ---------
    Naim CD5x
    2.1Vrms @ 1 kHz
    ---------

    ---------
    Meridian G06
    2.3Vrms

Not all manufactures publish those number, but we don't need them I guess since the trend is pretty evident.

And the same, more or less, goes for stand-alone Hi-Fi DACs (though beware of those with Pro-audio origins):

    -----------------
    Benchmark DAC1 USB

    Balanced:
Output Level Range (at 0 dBFS) In Calibrated Mode +9 to +29 dBu (Attenuator off)
    -1 to +19 dBu (Attenuator = 10 dB)
    -11 to +9 dBu (Attenuator = 20 dB)
    -21 to -1 dBu (Attenuator = 30 dB)
Output Level Range (at 0 dBFS) In Variable Mode Off to +29 dBu (Attenuator off)
Off to +19 dBu (Attenuator = 10 dB)
Off to +9 dBu (Attenuator = 20 dB)
Off to -1 dBu (Attenuator = 30 dB)

    Unbalanced:
Output Level Range (at 0 dBFS) In Calibrated Mode -6 dBu to +13.5 dBu
Output Level Range (at 0 dBFS) In Variable Mode Off to +11 dBu
    -----------------

    -----------------
    Aqvox USB 2 D/A MKII
    2Vrms
    -----------------

    -----------------
    CI Audio VDA2
    2.25Vrms SE, 4.5Vrms Balanced
    -----------------

    -----------------
    April Music Stello DA220MkII
    1.3Vrms
    -----------------

    -----------------
    Musical Fidelity X-DACV3
    2.2Vrms

I also happen to have the numbers of the Logitech music streaming devices (I'm planning to use a Squeezebox as my main source - CDp, Turntable and Tuner will be used rarely in comparison).

    --------------------------
    Logitech Squeezebox & Duet

    6.0Vpeak-to-peak line-level signals
    (just a bit over 2Vrms)
    --------------------------
    Logitech Transporter

    Balanced: 3Vrms (8.5Vpp)
    Unbalanced: 2Vrms (5.7Vpp)
    --------------------------
