    Default Amp6 with digital inputs

I am considering using an Amp6 to improve the sound from my TV. I already have a pair of suitable speakers.

Thinking of a small box which would fit under the TV. However, the problem is that the TV has a digital output. I thought it would be easy to find a design for a digital input for the Amp6. However, all I have found are very expensive audiofile DACs, which seem totally over the top for this task. Does anyone know of a source for a fairly straightforward and inexpensive digital input?

To give you some idea of what I am proposing, this is the only commercial amp I have been able to find-

Are you really sure it only has digital output? That seems really strange.
The only thing I can think of is the digital i/o board from minidsp

and [cough] seeing that amp6's are out of stock you could could get the amp from there as well, it's probably of adequate quality.

Maybe you should just get a new TV, no analog audio output is outrages.

It's apparently not perfect, but have a look at the FiiO D3: http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Digital-A.../dp/B0053VKP8S

Yes more and more of the new TVs are dropping the analogue outputs. Also all the effort goes on making a slim TV with a large screen, so no room for decent speakers. Therefore, the sound on new TVs is definately getting worse.

Thanks, Gnome, for the miniDSP site, very interesting reading, although a little expensive for what I want.

I already have a couple of Amp6s, one built and working and the other waiting to be assembled, so no problem with the Amps.

Thanks krilli, this was just the sort of thing I was looking for. I do not think perfection is required for this application.

I am in the UK and Found the FiiO D3 on the the Amazon.co.uk site, the price being the same in pounds as it is in dollars on the US site. So much for the strength of the pound!

Yes, the manufacturers do seem to be dropping analog outputs of the TVs. My AMP6-B is connected to the headphone output as there is no other analog output. But this TV has an optical S/PDIF thou...
