Thread: AMP10-Basic as 2nd Amp ?

    Smile AMP10-Basic as 2nd Amp ?

    Hi guys !

I think of completing my amps, with the last one (or not ?), that will be used either with the front speakers of my HT (all speakers are with nominal impedance 6Ω), or if it's 'less better' than my AMP5, on the central speaker. The best of the two will be for front speakers for music listening.

I see somewhere that the AMP10-(PS)-B AI aren't very clear and precise...

On an other hand, as those amps (AMP10-B and today's working AMP5) are bridgeable, is it a good idea to bridge the one that will take place for the central speaker (87dB sensibility) ?

    Express yourselves, you're welcome

Depends, bridging an amplifier will go at the cost of the damping factor. If these speakers are tough ones to drive, or if they have problems with low frequecy accuracy then perhaps it's not a good idea to bridge it. Though I doubt you'll really notice it that badly, as these amps have a massive damping factor by default, even when bridged. I also doubt you need the extra power. It may be practical though, if you have a left over channel... Which might be a far heavier weighing factor than the others... But you can also dummyload any unneccessary channels... Decisions decisions....

    Hi V-bro !

The central speaker isn't hard to drive. I think the 41Hz amplifiers will be enough. It's true that a channel will be stay unused. I look for mono amps at the shop, and it's SMD, not beginner friendly.
I think I should take a stereo amp, and then, maybe one day, a 6th channel will be there, and the amp will say welcome to this speaker.
The cost of an AMP10-B is not high (I remember the cost of my AMP5, it was 30% +), and I have two channels with it.
In comparison, the AMP15-PS seems to be a strong amp, but has not output relays, etc... And I don't know if the extra power is needed for me.
My use is Hifi and HT, and on HT, my AMP5 is not has hot as this.

My today's choice is near AMP10-B.

    Hi !

I need some confirmations as some parts are a little difficult to identify, and to prevent de-soldering too !
I didn't manage to be sure that those resistors value are those on the following pictures :

    8.2 KOhms
    220 Ohms

    Diodes :

500 mW and 1.3W the biggest Watt the biggest diode ?

Is that a SMT part in a AMP10-B hole mount component kit ???

    SMT part (front view) ???
    SMT part (back view) ???

    Thanks for help.
