Default SPP-110/4 4" woofer from monacor

What do you think of this woofer? http://www.europe-audio.com/Product.asp?Product_ID=5543
I would guess that it plastic cone would make it more suitable for outdoor use? The frequency response and sensitivity seems identical to SP-60/4.

I've used it once, long time ago and it has superb performance, super nice bass, super nice midrange. That was in a two way bassreflex with a Phillips soft dome tweeter. Two bookshelves, and the filter was just a resistor and capacitor towards the tweeter, that's it!

One word of caution though, as with the SP60 the magnet is very heavy and the basket just plate steel...

Nice. was thinking about using it for my project but since I already ordered the sp60s I'll go with that. also found the SP-4/60 PRO wich seems interesting but costs a little more: http://www.europe-audio.com/Product....oduct_ID=11351

Do you mean that the basket bends easily? :S

SP60 has the benefit over that PA midrange in many aspects for your application. I had expected that driver to be far more efficient for all their slight down sides, but it is equal to the SP60...

Yes the baskets bend relatively easy, not under normal use, not even on flying around, it's the landing they can't take very well!

Yes the only real reason I'm doubting the SP60 is the paper cone. I just doesn't feel right to have a paper woofer on a boombox that will propably be used a lot outdoors but I guess that I just have to protect it somehow under heavy rain and if something happens they are pretty cheap..

They can take a bit of moisture, I've had these in my car for more than a decade and live in a pretty wet country... What's more important is that paper can take much more heat!
