    Default Connecting transformer

    Got the tranformer, now I need to hook it up and I want to make sure i'm doing this right. Data sheet for transformer is here:

    http://www.toroid-transformer.com/AN-3222.pdf

    I'm assuming I'll want to hook up the greens to AC1 and AC2, with the blues to PGND. Also, the transformer has two sets of primary windings, red black. Hooking up one set to mains power delivers 22v across both sets of secondary blue greens, what is the point of the other set of primaries? Should I attach these too or is there no point?

    Alright for greens and blues, you'll get 22V with a doubled current capacity.
    As for the primaries (red and black) connect them in parallel too as you live in the US.
    A series connection shall be choosed for 230V mains only.
    Such a design saves the tranny's manufacturer the hassle of managing with two different types of transformers.

    Okay, so just connect the secondaries as I thought and connect the second set of primaries in parallel with the first.

    Just to double check, the red primary should be connnected to "hot" pin of the outlet, and the black should be connected to the wider pin.
    This is the first time i've done this, so I just want to make sure i've got it right and don't blow my caps.

    Check out the similar question on page 3 of this forum, especially Jan's response. The transformer you're using is similar to the Avel Lindberg Model Y236759 referenced in that thread, but the color coding is different. BTW, I'm using the AN-3222 on my AMP5 also.

    A = PARALLEL

    B = SERIES

    C = INDEPENDENT

    For AMP5 is required a dual PS with +V and -V. Secondaries are to be connected in series (B) and the center go to ground. This way you get +30V and -30V with respect to center.

    This case the BLUE of first secondary must be connected to GREEN of second secondary.

    Bump.

    This is good information for Antek Toroidal Transformers. It helps newbies like myself.

    Gosh. Is everyone using their transformers now? It wasn't that long ago that I asked if anyone knew who these guys were.

    Can someone take a look and tell me if I have this correct?

    Also,

    Should I connect the AC ground pin to my enclosure? Should I ground anything from the PCB to the enclosure or the AC ground?

    Thanks for your help!

    That looks okay, but get a fuse on the input, wire it all neat and safe and then put a multi meter on the outputs set to ACV and you should see the magic numbers. Its going to read higher than you'd expect and jump around a bit.

    The most important word in the above is 'safe'
