    Well, not bad Christian [8D]

The jumpers indeed make it alot easier to bridge...

My vote would be AMP10, I like equipment that is kept basic.

I thought (but am not 100% sure) the rectifiers did one channel each...so I'm not sure Dima if the amp can be fed with two transformers...I just thought the power supply was at least dual mono, but the chip isn't offcourse...

If i take the amp5 do I need the high power addon for 8ohm and 80 watt max speakers ?

The efficiency is good on those speakers. At 4 ohms or bridged, the chip an output more, so it starts to use up tha capacity of the supply.

With 8 ohm speakers, the chip should hit its output limits (60 watts) at 8 ohms before it exhausts the standard supply.

I have a standard amp5 with a 160kva toroid running 8 ohms and it has plenty of power. Lots of control on bass.

If I was building it again, I might beef up the toroid a little...perhaps. But I wouldn't expect a big difference.

Which confirms it could be dual rectifier, one per rail, does it ? [?]
My poor understanding is that one rectifier per rail will make smoother power supply. In addition, if you want to have one rectifier per channel, it would mean that you have half the amount of capacitor for each channel: say there is room for 4 big caps on the board. with one rectifier per rail, one can have 2 caps for +V and 2 caps for -V, all 4 shared by both channels.
Now, try to design the same with still 4 caps but one rectifier per channel. It means you will have only 2 caps per channel. At the end, does it make any difference ? Frankly, I don't know but one rectifier per channel will not permit to reach AMP5 configuration. (not sure my "explanations" are clear... sorry)

Anyway, I share your comment and would vote for AMP10 if it was a matter of voting [^]

Unfortunately (would I say), I just bough AMP 5 few days ago (and built it and, btw, I'm very happy and impressed with this amplifier).
If I had to do it again, I would go for AMP 10 too. And maybe this is what I will do for middle range amplifier in my 3 ways active system.
However, cost does matter here: instead of having one AMP2 board, I will have to buy and build 2 bridged AMP10. Not exactly the same cost [:I]

Well, this is my ability to solder (or not) SMT that will at the end drive the decision to go for AMP2 or AMP10.
In any case, AMP2 will be required for lower range.

I confirm: LM317 is much hotter than Tripath chip. The added value of AMP10 over AMP5 is obvious from this perspective because same heatskin can be used for both Tripath and LM317 (if I'm not wrong in the way I understand drawings I saw)

    Christian
